H5N1 Flu Pandemic Preparations

The times are definitely changing. The days of safety and security are gone for the present and near future. Americans and the rest of the people on earth will have to deal with a full platter of events that will change our lifestyles forever.

Aside from numerous weather related catastrophes, terrorist threats and middle east wars we now have a H5N1 Flu Pandemic threat. The news is full of stories and interviews of public officials warning of the dire consequences of such an outbreak. We could be facing martial law.

This whole H5N1 flu scare may be nothing at all or it could be "As bad as it gets". Here at CCO we believe it is better to be safe than sorry. All the items below can be used at any other time if this flu threat fades away.

Our friends, family and customers are important to us, so we offer the following recommendations to prepare for this coming event. Here is just one clip from a major publication.

Bush Plan Shows U.S. Is Not Ready for Deadly Flu

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 - A plan developed by the Bush administration to deal with any possible outbreak of pandemic flu shows that the United States is woefully unprepared for what could become the worst disaster in the nation's history.

A draft of the final plan, which has been years in the making and is expected to be released later this month, says a large outbreak that began in Asia would be likely, because of modern travel patterns, to reach the United States within "a few months or even weeks."

If such an outbreak occurred, hospitals would become overwhelmed, riots would engulf vaccination clinics, and even power and food would be in short supply, according to the plan, which was obtained by The New York Times.

The 381-page plan calls for quarantine and travel restrictions but concedes that such measures "are unlikely to delay introduction of pandemic disease into the U.S. by more than a month or two."

The plan's 10 supplements suggest specific ways that local and state governments should prepare now for an eventual pandemic by, for instance, drafting legal documents that would justify quarantines. Written by health officials, the plan does yet address responses by the military or other governmental departments.

The plan outlines a worst-case scenario in which more than 1.9 million Americans (we believe it will be much higher) would die and 8.5 million would be hospitalized with costs exceeding $450 billion.

Here is a small quote of a possible scenario in this same article:

"In the current year, an outbreak of severe respiratory illness is identified in a small village (the virus has mutated).

"Twenty patients have required hospitalization at the local provincial hospital, five of whom have died from pneumonia and respiratory failure.

The flu spreads and begins to make headlines around the world. Top health officials swing into action and isolate the new viral strain in laboratories. The scientists discover that "the vaccine developed previously for the avian strain will only provide partial protection.

In June, federal health officials find airline passengers infected with the virus "arriving in four major U.S. cities. Shortly small outbreaks are being reported around the nation. It spreads.

As the outbreak peaks, about a quarter of workers stay home because they are sick or afraid of becoming sick. Hospitals are overwhelmed.

"Social unrest occurs. "Public anxiety heightens mistrust of government, diminishing compliance with public health advisories." Mortuaries and funeral homes are overwhelmed.

 Physical preparations.

 1. Practice washing your hands after they have been exposed to any surface that may have virus infestation like door knobs, shaking hands with others, mail, etc. You should wash thoroughly enough to get rid any virus on your hands. Antibacterial soap has no effect on viruses. Only scrubbing will wash away the virus.

 2. Wear a surgical respirator if you must go into a high risk environment with sick people.  Tie-on surgical masks have been shown to not keep out flu viruses. Eye protection and latex gloves must be worn as well.

 3. Make changes in your lifestyle, diet etc. to boost or help your immune system. Vitamins, minerals, herbs and other supplements will help boost your immune system. Avoid alcohol, tobacco, artificial sweeteners, MSG, hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup for an increase in overall good health.

  4. Stay home. If there is an outbreak in your area, your best defense is to avoid exposure. Get a six month supply of food, toilet paper, water and other essentials so you will not have to go out into a high flu risk if it occurs. On a Nightline interview the other night, the head of the Center for Infectious Diseases said WHEN this pandemic hits, (not if) all boarders will be closed, the trucking industry will halt and grocery store shelves will likely be empty. Buy your supplies now. After the pandemic is in progress, anything coming into your environment from the outside will be a risk of contamination.

Material preparations. Buy the following items now while they are still available.

 1. One or more gallons of Clorox to use as a disinfectant.

 2. One or more quarts of Hydrogen Peroxide 35% (food grade) to use as a disinfectant. Soak vegetables in a solution of ¼ teaspoon to a sink of water to remove (oxidate) germs, viruses, pesticides etc.

 3. Search “Oscillococcinum” on google to find a source for this flu remedy or check your local drug store. A doctor friend of ours told me that the people who took this French flu remedy during the 1918 flu pandemic survived. You can access information about this remedy from the numerous links from your search on google. It’s inexpensive and it works.

 4. Buy six months worth of food, toilet paper (leaves don’t work), prescription drugs, water and other essentials now. If H5N1 fizzles out, you can still eat your food reserves.

 5. Purchase masks to filter out flu virus. The "Nano Mask" is about $8.99, a best buy, used by the military and a pack of ten additional filters is only around $10. Buy it at www.buynanomask.com Get them while they are available.

 6. Put together a “Bug Out Kit” just in case you have to evacuate your area. See our “Bug Out Kit” list here.

 7. Buy latex surgical gloves and protective goggles (like the kind surgeons wear) to protect yourself from airborne and surface virus particulates.

 8. Don’t laugh but duct tape and plastic could be helpful.

 9. A good water filter may be needed depending on where you live and where your water comes from. One that removes viruses would be the best.

 10. If this pandemic unfolds as “As bad as it gets”, it would be smart to acquire anything you might need to survive an extended shutdown of the supply system. With our “just in time” delivery system of inventory, most items will be gone from store shelves in a matter of a few days. The grid could shut down (everyone is sick) including water systems. If you have a well, make preparations to get water from it with a generator and have a fuel supply. Our advice is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

 11. Put together a first class “First Aid Kit” including remedies for diarrhea and other symptoms associated with flu. Aspirin (BC powder works best) will be needed to keep fever down. Various flu symptom remedies may be helpful.

 12. Intense flu has many symptoms. Diapers, Depends and other materials may be needed if you’re too sick to get out of bed. A propane camping stove may be needed to boil water if the grid goes down. Good ole chicken noodle soup (Jewish penicillin) can provide nourishment to someone that is too sick to eat much. Crackers to go with this soup will be good and provide much needed calories to a body under extreme stress. Miso soup has kept the Japanese healthy for centuries. Here is a virtually unknown health tip. Medical doctors in Nagasaki, Japan in attempting to treat radiation-poisoned victims, following the dropping of the atomic bomb in 1945, saved many of their patients by administering a diet of miso soup, brown rice and dulse (sea weed). Order Dulse from this web address www.seaveg.com/whleaf.html Or call 1 207 565-2907. Dulse is loaded with iodine and certain B vitamins, potassium and other essential nutrients. Fry it in a little olive oil and make a healthy DLT sandwich.

 13. Get a stash of cash money. If bank employees are all sick, there will be no way to get your money out of the bank and ATM’s may be contaminated.

 What you can do.

 1. Educate your family and friends about what could be a major pandemic. Monitor the progress of this H5N1 strain of flu through mainstream news and alternative sources.

 2. Purchase the above items now. You can always use them later if this scare doesn’t pan out. Public health officials say there will be a pandemic sooner or later. Conspiracy theorists say THEY (the New World Order) will introduce a population reduction operation at any time. Theologians say it’s the “End Times” with many more pestilences coming down the pike. Whatever the case, a prudent person will prepare now.

Good luck and God bless….John Hayes
